Careers

Arnold Hill Spencer Academy is committed to providing a planned programme of careers education which includes providing pupils with impartial information, advice and guidance for all students in Years 7-13. Careers education is an integral part of the preparation of students for the opportunities, responsibilities, decisions and experience of adult life.

  • A copy of the school Careers policy is available here.
  • A copy of the Baker Clause policy is available here.

The overall management of Careers Education and Guidance is with the Academy’s Careers Leader, Zoey Merrick, and a member of our Senior Team, Miss Stephanie Garrad – Assistant Vice Principal. This is further supported by the link governor for CEIAG.

The Careers Education programme is monitored and evaluated throughout the Academy using pupil, parent and staff evaluation along with the academy’s destination data as key indicators in the evaluation process.

You can contact Mrs Merrick by email at zoey.merrick@arnoldhillacademy.co.uk or telephone on 01159 554804.

Career Mark

We are very proud that Arnold Hill Spencer Academy has successfully retained our quality assurance career mark award.

The assessor was very pleased at the progress we have made, to ensure that our pupils are receiving outstanding quality careers information, advice and guidance.

The feedback from our assessor was very positive and he was very pleased to see that we have retained very low NEET (pupils that have not progressed into education, employment or training) figures over the last four years, which shows that our pupils are fully informed of the choices they have at post 16 and 18.

We are proud of the work we have done towards fulfilling all of the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks and are pleased that we are working at higher than the national average at fulfilling all 8 benchmarks.
