Extra-Curricular

At Arnold Hill Spencer Academy we believe that student life is about much more than academic success. We are proud to offer a wide range of enrichment activities which inspire students to learn outside of the classroom, and develop the skills required for the world beyond education.

AHSA Extra Curricular Programme

We aim to cater for a broad and diverse range of interests through lunchtime and after school activities such as debating, trampolining, creative writing, chess, and computer programming.

We have a vibrant Performing Arts department. Students can join the orchestra, samba, woodwind, rock and vocal groups, and our annual school show is always guaranteed to be a sell-out.

Students are able to enjoy a wide and varied range of team and individual sports in our superb facilities, led by our very enthusiastic and successful PE department.

Students from Year 9 onwards are able to get involved in the Arnold Hill Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE) Scheme. This leading youth achievement award gives our young people the opportunity to be the very best they can be, and we are fortunate to have a dedicated presence at the academy.

Our Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Army section offers our young people a broad range of challenging, exciting, adventurous and educational activities. Cadets are involved with volunteering and charitable work in the community.

We have a great track record for charity fundraising and are immensely proud of our students’ enthusiasm and support for national, international and local charity events.

“Exciting”, “interesting”, “challenging” and “fun” are just a few of the words that have been used to describe the extra curricular programme at Arnold Hill Spencer Academy.
