Cherry Tree Avenue

Work began today on the creation of an avenue of cherry trees at Arnold Hill Academy and a group of Year 13 students joined our Principal, Mr Robertson, and Head of Year 13, Mr McEwan, in the inaugural tree planting ceremony. The avenue is being created as a permanent way of marking our students’ passage through the school, and every year two more trees will be planted by our Year 13 cohort as they say goodbye.

Although short lived, cherry blossom is a powerful symbol of renewal, optimism and future happiness. Each spring the blossom will remind us of former students as we watched them grow into vibrant and beautiful young adults before moving on to the next chapter of their lives, and we hope that our students will be able to share their involvement with the project with their own children in the future.
