Year 11 Mock Interview Days

Our Year 11 students went under the spotlight on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th October as they practised their interview techniques in front of a diverse range of local and national employers. Over the course of two days our students were tasked with creating their own CV, before planning and preparing for a real-life interview with a professional or experienced interviewer.

The interviews proved to be a great success and we were delighted that as a result, four students were offered work experience placements, one student received an offer of employment, and Savills extended invitations to a number of students to visit their offices for the chance of becoming an apprentice.

We would like to express our gratitude to our volunteer interviewers who gave up their time and expertise to help our students develop their skills and prepare them for future interviews. Our interviewers included representatives from :

  • Keepmoat Homes
  • Savills
  • The World Is Ur’z C.I.C
  • L’Oréal
  • Mustard Seed Associates
  • SAAF Education
  • Nottingham City Council
  • The British Army
  • Nottinghamshire Police

We were also supported by members of the Academy community including a psychologist, a financial advisor, a boohoo stylist, Kayleigh Dixon (Departmental Assistant) and Dee Wilson (Chair of Governors).

At the end of the event the feedback from students, employers, volunteers and staff was incredibly positive. For many of our students this was the first time that they had taken part in a formal interview, quite a daunting experience!

All of our students looked amazing, and we are truly proud of the exceptional effort and maturity that they all demonstrated.
